Phoenix returns to Wyoming to get work on the oil fields. Here are his comments about the work:
In about 2 weeks I will start a job. 12 hr. day, 7 days a week, a week on and then a week off, and all the time out of town.
I plan to buy a small mobile trailer and truck with in the next 4 mo. and then start saving for and next big trip south.
Oh by the by, I just turned 33……..yea, yea, I know it slipped your mind.

Well I'm back in town after ONE of the hardest jobs I have ever done (Top 5 )
It's not the hard work so much that I hated, but more of the way the tool pusher and driller treated me, On the rig I am called "the worm" and that is just exactly how they treat me and I hate it. They act as if I have been doing this kind of work for years and that I should know what a "BRT" is. I found out later that it means "Big Red Thing". How the hell am I supposed to know that and what the hell am I going to do with it!!!!!!!!!! They make you feel totally stupid all the time. We would get up at 4:00 am and drive for an hour and 20 min. just to get to the rig, work 12 hard hours with…… well there is a lot involved I will tell you some time.  I will not quite yet unless I can find a good paying job, $19.50 hour is not worth the hardship they put me through.
I think I have made enough money to get a trailer, I’ll let you know if I get one. I will call you soon.  -Phoenix

Noah remains in Texas where he is trying to do some freelance multimedia work and planning a new adventure. This time we want to bring more equipment along and make a documentary about our trip. We are trying to write a pilot for a TV show but it is slow going. Occasional trips to the New Mexico desert make the time pass a little easier. continue to February
