June
-June 12-17, I flew up to actually see the boat in person before the previous owner left the country. There were some specifics he wanted to go over with me before he left. I must admit I was a little disappointed when I saw it but I think it will be all right, it's what my father would call a fixer-upper.
The electrical looks like a spider web with wires going everywhere and some of them aren't even connected to anything. Nothing works and upon closer inspection I have discovered that most of the wires are completely corroded. Mental note, replace all the electrical.
Well now on to the plumbing, well the head (toilet) has some corrosion going on at the base and the lever to flush it is stripped out. The foot pump for the galley (kitchen) sink doesn't work and the faucet is corroded and doesn't seem to work either. Mental note number two, replace plumbing as well.
The deck leaks at the cabin and deck seam as well as the genoa tracks and the hull looks like snake skin with all the grinder marks under the paint and the varnish, I don't think it has had any attention in a while. Mental note number three, strip everything and refinish and paint.
-June 25-29, After a quick trip to New Mexico to drop off my Landcruiser and sightsee we drive up to Rhode Island, a friend we met in Peru is here in the states for a while so we invited her along for the trip. We decided along the way to stop off at my grandparents and do a day sail, our first ever. What a nice time, I can't wait to go on more but first we have a lot of work to do.
